Fund Raising

There are various ways in which you can raise funds for COPS and help us to provide invaluable support to survivors. For example, you can do any or all of the following:

  • Become a COPS Pin Seller
  • Raise Funds Through Sponsorship
  • Hold a Fundraising Event
  • Send Us Your Unwanted Coins
  • Shop Online

  • The quickest way is to make a donation to our charity account, via the online PAYPAL payment facilities available through this web site. However, if you want to find out more about our fundraising options, please refer to the sections below.

PLEASE NOTE: For anyone thinking of fundraising for COPS, we would like to remind you that in certain circumstances, you will need to obtain permits or licences. Common examples are collecting or selling in a street or public place, going from house to house, and organising a draw or lottery (other than a traditional one with cloakroom tickets at an event).

If you wish to hold a fundraising event please contact Sue Brace our "COPS Fundraising Co-ordinator", so we can make sure that any legal issues are covered, and that you are raising funds in the most tax efficient way possible. We have a range of literature available to assist you. Please talk to us first. Many thanks.

    BECOME A COPS PIN SELLER

A steady income is provided through our lapel pin sales. However, we are always keen to hear from Police officers who are willing to act as pin sellers on our behalf.

Police officers may obtain pins by calling 0870 744 2577 or by writing to COPS at the following address:

    Care Of Police Survivors (COPS)
    PO Box 1027
    Narborough
    Kings Lynn
    Norfolk
    PE32 1FH

Dick Coleman is responsible for all pin sales, and can help you with any queries you may have. Our pin sellers are seen as a valuable part of our team, and have helped to raise a lot of money to support our work. Thank you all!

    RAISE FUNDS THROUGH SPONSORSHIP

Raising money through sponsorship can be a very rewarding activity, not least because of the sense of accomplishment when you have completed a challenge, but it can bring people together and you can have a lot of fun in the process.

Here at COPS we like to give our fundraisers as much support and encouragement as possible, and are always keen to hear about what ideas you have come up with. To give you an example, here are just a few of the fundraising initiatives that have already been undertaken on behalf of COPS (either as a group or individually):

  • sponsored cycle ride
  • sponsored swim
  • sponsored race (London Marathon)
  • sponsored slim
  • PLEASE NOTE: All sponsored fundraising projects which are undertaken on our behalf, must be managed in consultation with our Fundraising Manager, Sue Brace. Please contact her in the first instance, and thereafter if you have any questions or need advice. Note too that you will need to complete a special Gift Aid Sponsorship Form before you start.

    HOLD A FUNDRAISING EVENT

A popular choice is to hold a fundraising event. One such completed project was led by PC Chris Payne of Avon & Somerset, who organised a fun day at a Taunton pub. Hard work by Shane, Charlie, Ruth and the rest of the staff, together with the generosity of customers, resulted in the sum of £406 being raised for COPS.

If you wish to run a fundraising event, let us know, so we can support and publicise your event.

    SEND US YOUR UNWANTED COINS

Help to turn unwanted old and foreign coins into cash for COPS. We can accept any notes and coins that are of no use to you anymore. For example:

  • pre-decimal currency (half-crowns, shillings, farthings)
  • old decimal coins (half pennies, 5p, 10p and 50p coins)

  • We also accept foreign currency from anywhere in the world, and that includes pre-Euro currency like French Francs or Spanish Pesetas.

Please send whatever coins you find to the address given below:

    Care Of Police Survivors (COPS)
    PO Box 1027
    Narborough
    Kings Lynn
    Norfolk
    PE32 1FH
