April and May saw the tragic loss of another two officers travelling to and from duty.
On 6th April Sean McColgan of the Metropolitan Police died in the late evening when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car while travelling home from duty. He formally served as a special constable with Thames Valley Police. PC McColgan was 37 years old and is survived by his wife and one year old son.
On 17th May PC Gareth Gallagher from the PSNI died after his car was involved in an accident the previous evening when he was travelling to duty.
He was 22 years old and is survived by his parents and sister.
